Christopher Meloni Movies

Christopher Meloni A native of Washington, D.C., Christopher Meloni was born April 2, 1961. He honed his acting skills at New York City's Neighborhood Playhouse before starring in a string of made-for-TV movies and short-lived sitcoms -- among them In a Child's Name (1991), "The Fanelli Boys" and "Misery Loves Company."

But it wasn't until Meloni took on the role of serial killer Chris Keller in HBO's prison drama "Oz" that the actor found lasting fame. He followed his "Oz" success with the lead (opposite Mariska Hargitay) on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," a part that earned him a 2006 Emmy nomination for Best Actor in a Drama.

No stranger to the big screen, Meloni also appeared in director Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys (1995) and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). In 1999, Meloni played Julia Roberts' sports-minded fiancé in Runaway Bride.
