1987 NCAA Division I: Men's Basketball National Championship: Indiana vs. Syracuse
Handing coach Bob Knight his third national championship for Indiana, Keith Smart hit what would come to be known in college basketball lore as "the Shot," putting the Hoosiers up for good over the Syracuse Orange. Guard Steve Alford also did his part to lead his team to victory, sinking seven three-pointers. And Darryl Thomas pitched in with 20 points to help Indiana best the Orangemen trio of Sherman Douglas, Rony Seikaly and Derrick Coleman.
