1999 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship: Connecticut vs. Duke
Led by head coach Jim Calhoun, the University of Connecticut triumphed over Duke in the final game of the 1999 national championship, taking the title with a score of 77-74. Before a sold-out crowd at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., the Huskies' MVP, Richard "Rip" Hamilton, put in 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds. UConn reached another milestone that day, completing the 2,000th game in the history of its men's basketball program.
