Only somewhat faithful to George Orwell's allegorical novel, this made-for-TV adaptation uses real animals as well as Jim Henson's puppets to tell the story of a band of farm animals who stage a revolt against their human owner (Pete Postlethwaite) in a bid for freedom. Several notable names provide the voices of the animals, including Kelsey Grammer as Snowball, Patrick Stewart as Napoleon and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Mollie.

A lovely 1.33:1 full-screen transfer, with enough extras to make you squeal. These include the trailer for the film's video release, some historical background about Animal Farm and the film's production, extensive storyboards, and information about the cast and crew. There's also a cool menu that reviews the animals' moral code and provides links to the scenes where those "rules" are broken. Finally, there's an interview with cast member Kelsey Grammer, and a discussion with executive producer Robert Halmi Sr. about the book's importance to him as he was growing up in Communist Hungary.
