Bach: St. John Passion
In July 2000, the Bach Collegium -- an orchestra and chorus formed by conductor Masaaki Suzuki -- recorded this rapturous rendition of Johann Sebastian Bach's "St. John Passion" at Tokyo's Suntory Hall. To present the work as its composer envisioned, the production uses a small ensemble of about 50 musicians. Featured soloists include Gerd Tuerck, Stephan MacLeod, Chiyuki Urano, Miduri Suzuki and Robin Blaze.
