Beethoven: Symphony No. 9
Led by Vaclav Neumann on Dec. 14, 1989, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the Prague Philharmonic Choir performed Beethoven's Symphony no. 9 in support of their country's "Velvet Revolution" that was bringing an end to Soviet control. With soon-to-be president Vaclev Havel and many other prominent figures in attendance, this concert's historic significance is complemented by the stylistic grandeur of Beethoven's composition.
