Sultry mezzo-soprano Grace Bumbry stars as the titular Carmen in this glorious 1967 performance of composer Georges Bizet's tragic opera about love, lust, betrayal and murder. The dynamic cast includes Jon Vickers as the volatile, obsessed Don José, Mirella Freni as Micaëla and baritone Justino Díaz as Escamillo. Maestro Herbert von Karajan leads the superb Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra while doubling as the production's director.
