Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that Bob's Burgers is an animated show about a family that runs a burger restaurant. The vibe of the show is absurd and satirical, and family members are typically loving and supportive of each other when the chips are down (though they mock each other constantly). However, there are frequently crass jokes about sexual molestation, autism, and other sensitive topics. Some of the characters exhibit negative behavior (such as spreading nasty rumors or playing cruel jokes). The series also contains some strong sexual innuendo and salty language: "crap," "dammit," "hell." Many jokes target body parts or bodily functions. Very young characters make dirty jokes. Some scenes take place in bars.

Sexual Content

Some sexual innuendo. Joking references are made to itching crotches, urine, butts filled with candy, stinky feet, and underwear.

Violence

Fantasy violence (shoving, strangling, and so on). Cannibalism is referenced. Jokes about child molestation.

Language

Language includes words such as "crap," "hell," and "slut." Plenty of coarse humor related to body parts, bodily fluids, and bodily functions.

Social Behavior

Some iffy messages about family, child labor, and other issues. Crass humor abounds, with jokes about sexual abuse and people with disabilities. Still, family members are loving to one another and pull together when the chips are down.

Consumerism

Brands, celebrities, and TV shows are referenced: Kitchen Nightmares, The Human Centipede, Justin Bieber.

Drugs / Tobacco / Alcohol

Joking references to alcohol. Some scenes take place in bars.
