Brutes and Savages

1977 Rated NR 1hr 47m

This controversial documentary, featuring music by Riz Ortolani and first released in 1978, charts the journey of explorer Arthur Davis, who travels to then-unknown regions of Africa and South America to purportedly shed light on the life of their residents. What results is a chronicle filled with unusual tribal rituals and sensationalistic traditions that may not exactly capture the truth behind how the locals lived, loved and worked.
