After nabbing suspect Sher Singh (Mehmood) for the killing of a newspaper editor, Inspector Shekhar (Dev Anand) suddenly finds himself charged with Singh's murder when he gets bumped off by fellow inmates in director Raj Khosla's vintage crime thriller. Waheeda Rehman turns in a memorable performance as a softhearted vamp, and renowned cinematographer V.K. Murthy sustains the film's mood with a smoky, dusky atmosphere.
