Classic Ski Films: The Basic Principles of Skiing
After starting out as a ski instructor to A-list celebrities like Gary Cooper, Groucho Marx and 20th Century Fox's Darryl Zanuck, Otto Lang took Zanuck's advice and began to make movies about his passion. Shot in 1941, this black-and-white instructional film (featuring actor Alan Ladd) serves as a veritable time capsule on the history of the sport, with advice on ski design, schussing, lacquer, wax and toe plates.
