Haunted by the true love he lost as a child, academic physicist Robert St. John (Michael Patrick Gaffney) tries to come up with a theory to define the laws common to different dimensions, thereby uncovering the true nature of reality. Hoping to solve the mystery, the professor takes a beachside sabbatical, but his train of thought is sidetracked by four people: a jaded artist, a washed-up actor, a devout landlady and a mysterious woman.
