  • Overview
  • Details
This documentary explores the work of Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn, two inventive dancers considered by many to be the mother and father of American modern dance. From 1919 to 1931, the duo and their company toured the globe, creating and performing 300 pieces, their blend of classic ballet and various ethnic dances leading to the evolution of modern dance. Though many of the works have been lost, 23 of their powerful pieces are performed here.
