Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that Dirty Grandpa is exactly what its title suggests: raunchy and crass. This Zac Efron/Robert De Niro comedy has messages about love and honesty beneath all the crude humor, but it's buried pretty far down, and most of the laughter is the kind that makes people cringe. Expect lots of Spring Break partying, including drinking and drug use (mostly weed, though Ecstasy and crack also make appearances); there's also plenty of dirty talk, plus some nudity (mostly partial, though a photo of a woman's pubic region is briefly shown) and an implied scene of masturbation is implied. Language is strong, with frequent use of words including "f--k" and "s--t," and there's some minor violence (fist fight, car chase, someone firing a gun).
Sexual
Content
One character is shown practically naked (with only a stuffed animal covering his private parts), grinding against others while on drugs. Lots of dirty talk between a young woman and an elderly man. Spring break scenes show men and women in various stages of undress. A woman takes a picture of her pubic region, and the photo is briefly shown. A man is shown pleasuring himself while watching porn.
Violence
One character nearly single-handedly takes care of a group of menacing guys in a fist fight. Car chase; one character fires a gun for fun. Many loud arguments. A character makes a crass joke that's pedophilic in nature. A man draws swastikas on another person's forehead.
Language
Frequent use of everything from "f--k" and "s--t" to "bitch" and "ass." The word "retard" is used.
Social
Behavior
Amid all the raunchy stuff is the idea that generation gaps and other problems can be bridged with love and honesty. Also, marriage is serious business; don't enter it if you have any serious doubts.
Consumerism
Some labels/products shown, including Apple and Volkswagen.
Drugs / Tobacco /
Alcohol
Frequent drinking and drug use, including weed, Ecstasy, and crack. Vapes are also shown.
