Alfred Radok directs this haunting Czech drama, filmed just a few years after the Nazi scourge finally ended. The film became an underground hit banned for its unflinching look at the life of a female doctor, Hanna Kaufmann (Blanka Waleskà), during the Holocaust. Transported to Theresienstadt along with the rest of her family, Hanna stares evil in the face as she realizes that no words can describe the horror that takes place day after day.
