A fundamentalist Baptist church gets an injection of flashy faith when its longtime pastor suffers a stroke and the young Rev. Robert Gibbs (Wesley Jonathan) steps in as his substitute. The congregation embraces his methods, but the stodgy Rev. Matthews (James Avery) isn't sold. The plot thickens when Rev. Gibbs falls for a pretty schoolteacher (Jazsmin Lewis), who just so happens to be Rev. Matthews's daughter.
