Dress Rehearsal: The Brave Hurr's Ta'Zieh

2005 Rated NR 1hr 4m

From Iranian new wave director Nasser Taghvai comes this cinematic exploration of the ta'zieh, described by the filmmaker as "the only original dramatic art of the Islamic world." The story surrounds Brave Hurr, a onetime enemy of the Imam who eventually joins forces with the holy leader. The ta'zieh is usually performed in the streets and is told through a mixture of Mohammad's sayings, the Koran and Iranian folklore.
