This award-winning BBC presentation captures a 1999 performance of George Balanchine's beloved ballet by the Pacific Northwest Ballet, directed by Kent Stowell and Francia Russell, and the BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Stewart Kershaw. Inspired by Shakespeare's whimsical comedy, Mendelssohn composed the overture to "A Midsummer Night's Dream" when he was just 17 years old. Featured dancers include Libby Crabtree and Judith Harris.
