In Francis the Talking Mule, the loquacious pack animal turns World War II Army grunt Peter Stirling (Donald O'Connor) into an unlikely -- and seemingly lunatic -- hero, while in Francis Goes to the Races, Francis helps Peter pick winning ponies at the track.
