Mikan is a happy-go-lucky schoolgirl until suddenly her best friend -- the übercool, über-aloof Hotaru -- is whisked off to the shrouded-in-mystery Alice Academy in this youth-oriented Japanese anime series. Desperate to see her pal, Mikan enrolls, too, only to find a world vastly different from anything she's known. Soon, she's contending with superpowered girls, ax-wielding teddy bears and more in a school where there's no dropping out.
