Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that this big-budget fantasy series frequently depicts graphic, detailed acts of violence (including at least one violent act upon a child), as well as female nudity and graphic sexuality. Sexuality is portrayed in an especially iffy manner, with explicit discussion and depiction of incest, adultery, and rape. Strong language, including "f--k," is frequent. While the series is well produced, the content is questionable for all but adult viewers.

Sexual Content

Sex is graphically portrayed, including extensive female nudity. Frequent highly charged sexual situations, including adultery, prostitution, consensual incest between adults, and sexual bargaining.

Violence

Frequent graphic violence, including detailed depictions of beheadings and their bloody aftermath. Sexual violence is also graphically depicted.

Language

The series uses modern swear words, especially "f--k," even though it's set in a medieval-like fantasy world.

Social Behavior

The series is all about power -- who wants it and how they get it. Themes of family, faith, and loyalty run throughout, though there's plenty of moral ambiguity too. Women don't fare too well in the series, with incidents of sexual violence portrayed at length. The only people of color in the series are depicted as barbaric and animalistic.

Consumerism

Not applicable.

Drugs / Tobacco / Alcohol

No drugs or smoking, but characters are frequently depicted drinking heavily and behaving irresponsibly as a result. One character is essentially a hedonistic alcoholic and is never shown without a cup or bottle in hand.
