Great Women Artists: Frida Kahlo
Mexican artist Frida Kahlo began painting in 1925 while recovering from a horrific streetcar accident that left her permanently disabled. Kahlo's bold art was greatly influenced by her lifelong struggle with severe pain, as well as by her turbulent relationship with fellow artist and husband Diego Rivera. Although most of the recognition for her art came posthumously, she lived her life -- and infused her work -- with great passion.
