Struggling composer George Harvey Bone (Laird Cregar) falls for Netta (Linda Darnell), a scheming dance hall singer who wants to steal his newest song. When he discovers her selfish motives, Bone flies into a rage and kills her in this classic thriller. But Bone has no memory of the crime: So dedicated is he to his craft that discordant sounds make him black out, and he doesn't realize that he's capable of such monstrous violence.
