Hell's Highway: The True Story of Highway Safety Films

2003 Rated NR 1hr 31m

Brett Woods directs this documentary that takes viewers on a surreal road trip through the history of the Highway Safety Foundation. Decades ago, the outfit was responsible for producing many driver's ed films -- most of which contained graphic, nightmare-inducing scenes of mutilated bodies in real car wrecks -- for screening in classrooms. The film includes interviews with historians and former employees, plus a liberal dose of shocking footage.
