The skies and the seas provide the vast musical inspirations of this 1977 performance of Gustav Holst's "The Planets," op. 32, and Claude Debussy's "La Mer," recorded live at Philadelphia's Academy of Music. The Mendelssohn Club choir of Philadelphia joins the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of acclaimed Hungarian-American conductor Eugene Ormandy, who served as that orchestra's musical director for 42 years.
