Stand-up comedian Tim Allen became a comedy megastar when he used bits of his routine as the basis for this award-winning ABC sitcom about Tim Taylor, a devoted family man and the accident-prone host of the TV show "Tool Time." Tim's long-suffering wife, Jill (Patricia Richardson), tends to their three lively sons, while neighbor Wilson (Earl Hindman) dispenses useful advice and Tim's co-host, Al (Richard Karn), runs the show.

Summary of Season 1 (1991) - 3 discs

Tim "the Toolman" Taylor (Tim Allen, who based the show on his stand-up routine) is the bumbling host of a TV show about tools (the kind Bob Vila would appreciate). When he's not on-air with sidekicks Al Boorland (Richard Karn) and buxom "Tooltime Girl" Lisa (Pamela Anderson), Tim has his hands full running interference for his rowdy family, which includes wife Jill (Patricia Richardson) and sons Brad, Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Mark.

Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that this show finds its humor in family-friendly issues like sibling dynamics, parenting challenges, and an accident-prone Mr. Fix-It dad. Very little about this series is cause for concern; it lends a pretty realistic view of life within a typical nuclear family. Each episode offers an obvious lesson (sometimes for parents as well as kids) in moral judgment, communication, or responsibility. The series occasionally touches on more-serious topics like divorce or a family member's death.

Sexual Content

Very occasional boy/girl flirting and kissing. Tim and Jill trade affectionate banter.
