Earnest but overbearing librarian Shirley Templo (Vilma Santos) realizes that her meddling ways have alienated her children. Determined to make things right, she travels from the Philippines to New York to visit her gay son, Mark (Luis Manzano). But when she arrives, she discovers that a primary obstacle to the reconciliation she seeks is Mark's boyfriend, Noel (John Lloyd Cruz), who's been keeping a secret from her.
