The transfer is sharp, and the film can be viewed in full screen or 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. Audio options include Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1, with English subtitles available. A theatrical trailer, bios on the cast and crew, and commentary by director John Carpenter and director of photography Gary B. Kibbe round out the package. Considering the film's enormous debt to H.P. Lovecraft, some background on him -- and especially the themes of his work that are explored here (an index of the stories touched on, for instance) -- would have been a great idea.
