In her Spanish hometown of Santander, Luisa (Victoria Abril) is shocked when she stumbles across her ex-husband, Angel (Imanol Arias), who is now poor and homeless. Despite the objections of her husband, Ramiro (Antonio Valero), Luisa takes Angel into their home. Terminally ill and determined to ruin the life of his former best friend, Ramiro, Angel attempts to reclaim Luisa's tender love and affection.
