After the untimely death of his wife, former cop Jonathan Stone (Richard Crenna) relocates to Seattle, where he becomes wrongfully accused in a murder case and asks socialite Annie Hayes (Beverly D'Angelo) to help him dig up the truth so he can acquit himself. Hayes agrees to lend a hand by giving Stone an all-access pass to the city's rich and privileged, which is where they believe the key to solving this strange case might lie.
