Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that Me, Eloise features the mischievous Eloise up to her usual antics: lying, manipulating, and defying the rules to have a little fun. She eventually takes responsibility for her actions, but the majority of her behavior is not the sort most parents want their children to emulate, and there are no consequences for her offenses.

Briefly, Eloise and her friend Yuko are locked in a laundry room, but are eventually discovered.

Social Behavior

There are some positive messages here about friendship and the importance of fun and adventure in a child's life, particularly as a counter to an overly structured routine. However, much of this mischief and adventure is procured in direct violation of the rules, often with dishonesty and manipulation. Also, the Japanese classical musician whose life is all work and no play may strike some parents as a bothersome stereotype.
