Mozart's delightful comic opera celebrates the insanity of love with a tangled romance centered around Violante, a marchioness who disguises herself as a gardener's maid so that she might be reunited with her former lover, Count Belfiore, a man who once stabbed her in a spat and who's now engaged to another. The Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra and tenor John Mark Ainsley help set the musical tone for this lively production conducted by Ivor Bolton.
