My Baby Is Black! / Checkerboard: Double Feature
A pair of French-produced exploitation dramas examines a double helping of controversial topics: sex and race. In My Baby Is Black! (1961), a white woman has an affair with a black student, giving birth to his child without his knowledge. In Checkerboard (1959), a Caucasian ex-paratrooper in a segregated Midwestern town begins a relationship with an African-American woman, provoking unsettling reactions from the locals.
