In 1776, Bohemian-German composer Christoph Willibald Gluck gave his famed Italian opera "Orfeo ed Euridice" a French makeover for Parisian audiences, resulting in a more refined version of his work. This lavish production, presented by the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Australian Opera Chorus, tells the tragic story of Orphée's (David Hobson) descent into Hades to bring his wife, Eurydice (Amanda Thane), back from the dead.
