In 1980, NBC president Fred Silverman signed Japan's top recording stars Pink Lady to host a prime-time variety hour, convinced they were the next big thing. Only then did he discover that Pink Lady didn't understand a word of English. Comedian Jeff Altman was signed to join the Japanese pop stars Mie and Kei for this outrageous variety show.
