In this BBC production of Anton Chekhov's first play, Rex Harrison stars as Mikhail Platonov, a schoolteacher who reconnects with an old flame while spending a summer weekend with friends. Seeing Sofia (Joanna Dunham) again revives romantic feelings in Mikhail, and Sofia feels the same, despite her recent marriage to another man. But time has changed both of them -- and may have taken away their one chance at love.
