This set of stories takes a realistic look at life in a mental hospital. "The Labyrinth" examines the often-tragic lives doctors lead outside the asylum, while "The Voices" tells the story of a woman driven to hallucinations after her child vanishes. A fellow patient slips into depression as he lives in denial of his homosexuality in "No Exit," and in the tale "In Peace," a war veteran has trouble dealing with the horrors he's seen.
