After escaping indentured servitude in 1800s England, Mary Keane (Aoife McMahon) takes her infant daughter across the Atlantic to Newfoundland, where she begins a new life in a remote fishing station appropriately named Cape Random. Forging a partnership with station owner Thomas Hutchings (Colm Meaney), a man running from his own dark secrets, Mary slowly finds her place in a struggling community of outcasts and fugitives.
