Locked away in a prison, John the Baptist proclaims the coming of the Messiah. King Herod's stepdaughter, Salome, requests to see John, but he rejects her sexual advances towards him. Upset, Salome tries to win Herod's favor and exact revenge on John. In exchange for killing John, Salome agrees to dance for her stepfather. This live performance of Richard Strauss's emotionally challenging opera is full of passion.
