Rodin: The Gates of Hell

1981 Rated NR 53m

Compelled to create a masterpiece, French sculptor Auguste Rodin dedicated nearly 37 years of his life to construct the famous Gates of Hell, a pair of massive doors adorned with figures inspired by Dante's Inferno. Although the project was not completed during his lifetime, the vision of this remarkable artist was finally achieved in 1977 when the piece was meticulously cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax process.
