Up-and-coming journalist Madeline Ross (Susan Sarandon) never thought she'd be swayed from her career goals by something as plebeian as romance, but when she meets theater owner Harris Sloane (David Steinberg), she just can't resist. Their path to happiness proves rocky, however, after the subject of one of Madeline's articles -- famed French actor Jean-Fidel Mileau (Jean-Pierre Aumont) -- enters the scene and complicates matters.
