In director James Redford's drama, Eddie Haley (Ryan Merriman) grows into a troubled teen after his parents die and his emotionally distant Uncle Frank (Stanley Tucci) leaves him with ranch hand Ernesto Bejarano (Rubén Blades) and his wife (Dana Delany). When Frank returns a decade later, Eddie struggles to get his bearings as he copes with mixed feelings toward his uncle, budding first love and lingering questions about his parents' deaths.
