Street Heat: Paul Wall TV
Turning the lens on himself, Paul Wall filmed most of this self-portrait, which takes you on the road and into the hood, showcasing the real life of a rapper phenomenon before international stardom firmly took hold. Wall (born Paul Slayton) grew up as a hard-core disciple of fellow Houstonian DJ Screw and became so familiar with the pioneering DJ's woozy, slowed-down style of remixing that he had to adjust to hearing hip-hop at any other tempo.
