For his first opera production, renowned theatre director Dario Fo chose to stage Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" for the Netherlands Opera in 1987. This 1992 revival recording -- in honor of the 200th anniversary of Rossini's birth -- showcases Jennifer Larmore as Rosina, Richard Croft as Count Almaviva and David Malis as Figaro. Alberto Zedda conducts this radically different and more elaborate treatment of the comic operatic masterpiece.
