Filmmaker Nina Menkes has taken a real-life incident and turned it into a haunting look at the nature of violence in this stirring independent feature. The disquieting story concerns a Gulf War vet who was arrested while digging a grave in the Mojave Desert for his murdered wife. The director's sister and collaborator, Tina Menkes, plays a Marine captain haunted by the victim's spirit; the rest of the cast is made up of Desert Storm veterans.
