Upon learning that his leading guard is a Christian, Nero orders all Christians to be burned out of the city of Rome. Ben the baker, his wife Helena and their band of adopted children try to flee but are forced to take refuge in the catacombs beneath the city, where Ben's stories of the last days of Jesus and his resurrection give them new hope and strength.
