Belly dancer Samia Gamal, born in a small Egyptian town in 1924, was touted as the "National Dancer of Egypt" by King Farouk in 1949. As a solo dancer -- one of the genre's most celebrated -- she gracefully fused methods from ballet and Latin styles, creating beautiful moves that she still executes today.
