Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara offers this holiday opera based on the ironic Christmas tale by American author O. Henry, in which a husband (Jaakko Kortekangas) and wife (Pia Freund) each sacrifice something dear to purchase a splendid gift for the other. Petri Sakari leads the Tapiola Sinfonietta and Veräjäpelto Choir in this production that also features Anna-Lisa Jakobsson, Lassi Virtanen and Martti Wallén.
