The Girl from Chicago
While on a case in Mississippi, federal agent Alonso White (Carl Mahon) falls for schoolteacher Norma Shepard (Starr Calloway) and rescues her from the evil clutches of a local crime kingpin (John Everett). But when Alonso and Norma escape to Harlem, safety still eludes them. Shot on a shoestring budget, this 1932 melodrama featuring an all-black cast was written and directed by pioneering African American auteur Oscar Micheaux.
