The Great Composers: Pyotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky
In this episode of the Great Composers series, varied elements come together to explore the work of Russian composer Pyotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky, who is perhaps best known for his oft-performed ballet "The Nutcracker." Using Tchaikovsky's own compositions (performed by the I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra), the program tells his story by alternating extended music and dance sequences with traditional documentary vignettes.
